We came here to retain Unity Cup title, says Igoh Ogbu ahead Jamaica final
Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu has warned the Jamaican national team that the senior national team of Nigeria will do everything possible to defend their Unity Cup title.
The Nigerian team led by head coach Eric Chelle beat the Warriors of Zimbabwe 2-0 on Tuesday night at the Valley Stadium in London to secure a place in the final of the annual invitational tournament.
Millwall winger Femi Azeez was the star of the show, scoring twice for Nigeria in the semifinal victory over Zimbabwe. He opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the game and also grabbed his second goal of the game when he was set up by Terem Moffi in the second half of the game.
Jamaica also booked a place in the final after defeating India 2-0 in the second semi-final of the 2026 Unity Cup in London on Wednesday with goals from Clarke Courtney in the 8th minute and Kaheim Dixon in the 78th minute of the keenly contested encounter.

Speaking to NFF TV ahead of the final which will be played on Saturday, Ogbu said that the Super Eagles will do needful by defending the Unity Cup.
“We have to keep our heads straight, keep working hard and continue doing our best because it is a privilege to play for Nigeria,” Ogbu said.
“Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do. We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title.” He warned.
Before the final game between Jamaica and Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday, India and Warriors of Zimbabwe will contest in the third placed match of the Unity Cup.
