I’m gutted to see West Ham relegated, says Declan Rice
Arsenal and England international midfielder Declan Rice says he feels gutted to see his old club get relegated from the English Premier League (EPL).
West Ham was caught up in a relegation survival battle with Tottenham on the final day of the EPL season needing three points to survive the drop while hoping that Spurs dropped all three points in their game as well to secure their spot in the Premiership.
However, Tottenham which needed just a point to survive relegation secured their place in the EPL with a 1-0 win against Everton at the Hotspur Stadium to the delight of their teeming fans.
West Ham thrashed Leeds 3-0 with goals coming V. Castellanos (66), J. Bowen (78) and C. Wilson (90+3) but it was little too late as Tottenham secured two more points (41) ahead of West Ham (39) which condemned them to relegation.
Following West Ham’s drop to the Championship, Rice took to his Instagram page to express his disappointment but declared that he has no doubt that the club will be back where it belongs.

“I’m absolutely gutted to see West Ham relegated,” he said.
“A club that really does mean so much to me. As I said before, I wouldn’t be where I am today without everything the club has done for me.
“With that being said, I have no doubt they will be back where they belong in the Premier League in no time. I will be supporting always.”
Rice officially joined Arsenal from West Ham United on July 15, 2023, in a club-record £105 million deal.
The England midfielder signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year and has since become a key player for the Gunners.
