Shooting Stars crash out of CAF Confederation Cup
Nigeria Premier Football League side Shooting Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to CS Sfaxien in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round tie in Sfax, Tunisia on Sunday.
The Ibadan-based club crashed out of the competition following a 2-1 aggregate defeat after winning the first leg 1-0.
Iyed Belwafi opened the scoring in the 26th minute following an impressive team work to level the tie.
He completed his brace in the 67th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead which booked their place in the next round of the competition.
It was a painful exit for Shooting Stars, who returned to continental action after 28-year absence last season.
Nigeria’s other representatives, El-Kanemi Warriors secured a place in the next round of the competition following a 3-1 aggregate victory over Guinea-Bissau side UDIB.

The Maiduguri-based club suffered a 1-0 defeat but advanced 3-1 on aggregate after a 3-0 win in the first leg.
El-Kanemi Warriors will now face Raja Casablanca in the next round.
The first leg is set to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne between October 16 and 18.
Raja will host the return fixture in Casablanca between October 23 and 25.
The winner over the two legs will secure a place in the lucrative group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
