Arsenal pull comeback win over Chelsea in derby thriller

Arsenal

Arsenal sealed a 2-1 comeback victory over Chelsea in a thrilling North London derby on Sunday as the Gunners continue their 100% run in the league.

Arsenal, tutored by Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, secured all three points at the Emirates Stadium in the English Premier League game.

Chelsea took an early lead in the game with a shock goal with just 77 seconds into the game through new signing Morgan Rogers to fire the Blues ahead of the encounter.

The Gunners replied in kind midway in the first half when former Chelsea striker Kai Hevertz equalised for Arsenal with a strike from the edge of the box.

Arsenal piled serious pressure on the visitors thereafter in the second half and their efforts paid off five minutes later when Martin Odegaard scored the decisive goal following a clever dummy from Hevertz.

Chelsea led by Xavi Alonso pushed Arsenal hard for an equaliser late in the encounter, with Pedro Neto hitting the post and David Raya making a crucial fingertip save to deny Estevao Williams late in the game.

Arsenal made sure to lock up their defense line to avoid an equaliser against Chelsea with the defending EPL champions maintaining their perfect start to the 2026/27 season after 90 minutes.

Chelsea will feature in their next EPL game against Hull City on Saturday, 12 September, while Arsenal will square up against Sunderland on the same day.
