Ballon d’Or: Yamal wins young talent award for third time
Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has bagged the Young Talent of the Year award for the third time in a row at the Ballon d’Or award ceremony holding in London on Monday night.
The teenager helped Barcelona win the La Liga and also helped Spain win the World Cup last summer.
“It is an honour to be here and receive this prize,” said Yamal after receiving his prize.
“I would have liked to see my team-mate Cubarsi here because I think this prize should have been for him. He has been playing at an excellent level for some time.
“This is my third year up here for this prize. I would like to thank my club and my national team. Speaking about this one specifically, this one should have been for Curbasi.”

In the women’s category, Barcelona and Spain forward Vicky López was announced as winner and she is winning it for the second successive year.
“I am very proud and grateful to receive this prize. This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without my team-mates,” she said.
“I feel your presence with every step I take. I owe it to you, mum. Keep fighting and to never give up.
“Let’s keep making our sport better together and keep growing.”
Both awards were the first set of awards given on the big night.
