Arokodare focused on improvement after opening Ajax account
Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has stated that he is focused on getting better as a player for his new club following his move from EPL club Wolverhampton Wanderers to Dutch Eredivisie side, Ajax Amsterdam.
Arokodare made the declaration after bagging his first goal and providing an assist last night for Ajax in their play-off win against FC Sion in their UEFA Conference League play-off on Thursday night.
“I don’t think there’s a real reason or there’s a real excuse,” Arokodare told ESPN. “I think it’s part of the game.
The all-action striker who once topped the goal charts in Belgium while playing for Genk, also added that he has been preparing well with his teammates and he is focused on the new season.

“As players, we have seasons and moments like this in our careers, and it’s something to learn from, that I’ve moved on from, and I’m focused on the new season.
“I’ve been preparing well with the Ajax team and the players and I’m focused on this season. I’m focused on getting better, focused on better things for myself. Focused on not making the same mistakes I did. That’s all I’m focused on. Not focused on last season.” He said.
Arokodare officially moved to Ajax on a season-long loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a transfer, finalized in late July 2026.
The deal runs until the summer of 2027 and includes an option to buy the 25-year-old permanently for a fee believed to be around £17 million (€20 million).
