U-20 WCQ: Battle-ready Falconets land in Malawi for second leg
Nigeria’s Falconets have landed in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi for this weekend’s second leg of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying game against the host team.
Recall that the Nigerian girls defeated Malawi 2-0 last Saturday at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne. After a drab first half, the game came alive in the second half when the Falconets opened scoring through an own goal after piling pressure on the visitors.
The side then doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Kindness Ifeanyi who buried the ball at the back of the net after the Malawian goalkeeper spilled a dangerous cross.

The Falconets tutored by coach Moses Aduku have now arrived the East African country in good spirits as are on the cusp of securing a ticket for 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals scheduled to be held in Poland in September.
With a comfortable 2-0 advantage secured in the first leg encounter in Ikenne, the Falconets look set to complete the demolition job this Saturday, May 9, at the Bingu National Stadium, in a bid to secure a 12th U-20 Women’s World Cup ticket.
Malawi, on the other hand, have invited two foreign based players ahead of the clash, with the country opening the gates wide allowing fans to attend the game for free, to the end that Malawi are cheered on to overturn the defeat.
