“Special thank you to Michelob ULTRA and Copa90 for this amazing recognition. I’m so honoured to receive it,” Okocha said in the video posted on his IG page.
The initiative which is a joint effort by the Michelob ULTRA and football content platform Copa90 seeks to retrospectively honour standout performances by players before the official player of the Match award was introduced by FIFA in the year 2022.
The organizers say players are selected for recognition based on searched archives of past World Cups before the year 2022 with deserving players selected across hundreds of games played in the past.
