Akeem Busari, the coach of the Flamingos of Nigeria has revealed how his team were able to conquer debutants Puerto in their second Group B game on Tuesday at the ongoing 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup taking place in Morocco.

The Flamingos which lost their first Group game to Poland by a 2-1 goal margin bounced back to reckoning after securing a 2-0 win over Puerto Rico at the magnificent Mohammed VI Stadium, Pitch 4, in Rabat.

The Flamingos recorded their first victory at U-17 World Cup with goals scored by Oluwakemi Adegbuyi in the 25th minute and another scored by Precious Oscar in the 93rd minute of the game to keep their hopes of qualifying for the next round alive.

While speaking with newsmen after the game, he said; “It was a strong win because Puerto Rico knew it was a game that would decide their fate so it was a very tough game for both sides. We were unable to convert our chances in the first half, fortunately we got the second goal towards the tail end of the second half but it was a very rough game, they are not pushing overs.

“As an handler when you are down you look at it and think how so you comeback, it’s all about psyching and these are young players so all they need is counselling and what to do and today they were exceptional, they were more calm than the Poland game.” Busari added.

The Flamingos will now face an uphill task to secure a convincingly victory against high flying Group leaders North Korea after bouncing back to reckoning with the win against Puerto Rico.

The team tutored by Busari is now plotting tactics ahead of their last Group game scheduled to be played on Friday, October 23, against South Korea which defeated Poland 6-1 on Tuesday, as they seek qualification for the next round of the tournament.
