Fabian Hurzeler, the coach of English Premier League (EPL) club, Brighton and Hove Albion has issued an update on the injury sustained by Super Eagles winger, Femi Azeez.

The 25-year-old versatile winger is yet to feature for his new club after sealing a deadline day move from Millwall to Brighton for an initial £12.5 million fee in a package exceeding £15 million for a 4+1 year contract.

According to Hurzeler, the player is nursing a slight injury at the moment but he is hopeful that Azeez will available for their next game against Coventry City this weekend.

“Femi is obviously carrying a slight injury at the moment,” Hurzeler said, as quoted by Sussex Express on Wednesday.

“With Femi, we have to wait this weekend, and hopefully he will be available for the next game [Coventry].”

Hurzeler also heaped praise on the qualities possessed by the player who was recently handed his maiden national team call up at the Unity Cup by coach Eric Chelle.

“Femi’s a winger, he can score with the right and with the left foot. He has really good decision-making in the final third,” Hurzeler added.

“He’s a hard worker. I’m really pleased with the transfer window.

“Of course, there have been a lot of changes. Now it’s about us integrating all the new players as quickly as possible and becoming a really strong unit. That’s our responsibility now.” The coach added.

The electric winger recorded 11 goals and 7 assists as Millwall reached the Championship play-off semi-finals last season and was named in the 2026 PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Azeez who insisted on a move to Brighton after Millwall rejected multiple bids from the club also emerged as the highest rated player in the Championship last season with an appreciable score of 7.32.
