Arteta rues Arsenal showing in ‘disappointing’ Brighton defeat
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has described his team’s 3-0 loss to Brighton in an English Premier League game played on Saturday at the Amex as very disappointing.
The reigning English Premier League champions succumbed to a surprise loss to Brighton tutored by Fabian Hurzeler scoring three unreplied goals in a thrilling game.
Speaking immediately after the game, Arteta said that his team failed match the intensity of their opponents in the encounter especially in the aspect of winning fifty-fifty duels and the second balls.
Mikel said that his team has done a lot in the last six weeks after the World Cup but Arsenal got taught a tough lesson by Brighton.
“Very disappointing. Everything we discussed about the intensity the game was going to require, winning the duels and the second ball, we were very, very far from that. We were constantly under pressure. We conceded a goal, then had a massive chance to score and didn’t. We tried to work in the second half. We conceded a second goal and had a big chance to score before that. It’s a big lesson to learn. What the team has done in the last six weeks after the World Cup was big, but today there was a lot to learn.”
