3-star Brighton end Arsenal’s perfect start to the season

Brighton delivered an impressive performance to brush aside Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex Stadium on Saturday to continue their stunning start to the season.

The Seagulls defeated Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup and they followed it up with another remarkable showing at home against the defending champions.

Pascal Gross opened the scoring with a strike from outside the box which evaded the attention of David Raya in the 31st minute.

The Gunners struggled to get their acts together in the encounter before Brighton made it 2-0 before the end of first half.

Charalampos Kostoulas scored another goal from outside the box, giving David Raya no chance.

Chema Andrés made it 3-0 with a close range header in the 57th minute to stun the visitors.

Arsenal struggled to find their way back into the game as Brighton held on to seal an well-deserved victory.

It was Mikel Arteta’s team first defeat of the season but they remain second on the log with four wins from five.

The victory was Brighton’s third win of the season to occupy the third position with 10 points.

In the other Premier League games, Aston Villa recorded their first win of the season with a 3-2 win over Tottenham.

Newcastle United defeated Hull City 2-1 to end the visitors’ unbeaten start to the season, while Everton pipped Ipswich Town 1-0.

Arsenal have conceded 3+ goals and lost in the Premier League for the first time since a 2-3 defeat to Manchester United back in January.
