Valverde suffers traumatic brain injury, set to miss El Clásico
Spanish club Real Madrid has confirmed that midfielder Fede Valverde has suffered a traumatic brain injury following a bloody brawl with his teammate, Aurelien Tchouameni.
The altercation between the pair which transpired during Thursdays training forced Velverde to seek treatment in the emergency room in a bust-up described as “much worse” than previous disagreements.
While confirming the incident in a statement, the club revealed that the player he has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury after tests were carried out on him by doctors.
The statement further informed that Velverde would need 10-14 days to rest which effectively rules him out of this weekend’s El Clásico game against Barcelona.

“The tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury”.
“Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as per medical protocols for this diagnosis”, Real Madrid confirm.
Reports say club president Pérez working on taking action after another fight between Tchouaméni and Valverde as he is currently preparing disciplinary measures for both players.
“Real Madrid announce that, following the events that took place this morning, the club has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against our players Fede Valverde & Aurélien Tchouaméni”.
“The club will announce the outcome of both cases in due course, once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed”. A statement issued by the club read.
