Uruguay leave it late to secure draw against Saudi Arabia
Uruguay left it late to secure a point against Saudi Arabia in their opening Group H World Cup encounter played at the Miami Stadium.
The Saudis took the lead in the game with a surprise goal in the 40th minute when defender Abdulelah Al-Amri tapped in a rebound after Uruguayan keeper Fernando Muslera failed to cleanly clear a header from a corner.
After pilling endless pressure on the opponents defence in search of a goal the with massive offensive pressure in the second half, unleashing 22 shots, Uruguay scored in the 78th minute of the game.

Maxi Araújo scored to make it 1-1 after burying a rebound past Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais, who otherwise had a masterful game with nine saves in the game.
Following this result and a shock 0-0 draw between Spain and Cape Verde earlier in the day, Group H sits completely deadlocked with all the team’s having one point each.
Following their 1-1 group stage draw, the Saudi Arabia national football team next plays Spain on Sunday, 21 June, while the Uruguay national football team faces Cape Verde later that same day.
