Tuchel says Saka could be dropped from England World Cup squad
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka risks the chance of missing out of the 2026 World Cup as he is yet to recover from an achilles injury which he suffered since the month of March.
This comes after England manager Thomas Tuchel disclosed that Saka still cannot train on back-to-back days and has not completely recovered from the niggling injury.
Speaking ahead of England’s friendly game against Costa Rica, Tuchel said that the winger was not yet 100% fit and his workload during training would be monitored closely by the team’s backroom staff.
“Bukayo is still on the mend, playing with a discomfort at the end of the season, managing the injury, playing at a high level but still not at 100%,” Tuchel stated.

“He is a key figure who we have identified and are working with in training.
“Some things are lacking … consecutive training sessions. He was extremely well taken care of at Arsenal, fully aware of this… And we plan to replicate that here,” Tuchel explained.
Saka may have aggravated the injury after continuing to play games through discomfort during Arsenal’s Premier League title run-in.
Should Saka be dropped from England’s World Cup squad due to injury, Tuchel will consider alternatives like Noni Madueke, Morgan Rogers, or Marcus Rashford on the right wing of play.
