Liverpool defeat Tottenham to reach Carabao Cup fourth round

Liverpool earned a 3-1 win over troubled Tottenham at Anfield on Tuesday to qualify for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Andoni Iraola decided not to start the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola, Ryan Gravenberch.

Roberto De Zerbi opted for a strong lineup following their poor start to the season in the Premier League with the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Mathys Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Conor Gallagher and Omar Marmoush starting.

Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 21st minute before Cody Gakpo made it 2-0 with a cracker in the 54th minute.

Conor Gallagher reduced the deficit in the 69th minute and Dominik Szoboszlai made it 3-1 in the 91st minute.

In the other matches on Tuesday, Arsenal’s Max Dowman scored a brace and assisted the other to lead the Premier League champions to a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town.

Fulham defeated West Ham 3-2, Brentford earned a 2-1 win over Reading to also advance to the fourth round.

Peterborough defeated Barnsley 7-6 on penalties after the regulation time ended 3-3.
