Neymar welcomes Coutinho at Santos

Former Liverpool and Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho has joined Brazilian League side, Santos until the end of the season.

He became a free agent in February when he cancelled his contract with Vasco da Gama.

Heb has a deal until December 2026 to team up with his childhood friend, Neymar at Santos.

The Club announced his signing with a video on their social media accounts on Monday.

Neymar, who had played with Coutinho in Brazil’s national team, accompanied the video with a message: “Brother, we are so happy you’re here. Our squad and our fan will embrace you so you can be happy. Welcome to Santos.”

Santos coach Cuca is confident that Coutinho will add value to the squad.

He said: “He has already taken part in the video meeting I hold with the squad, where we review plays from the last match and training sessions.

“He’s in great shape, cheerful, and highly motivated. We’ll be able to benefit from his presence, and help him as well. He’s a great player and a valuable asset to the sport.”

Coutinho has been handed the number 11 shirt ahead of his debut against Remo on Saturday in the Brazilian League.

He played for the likes of Inter Milan, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Aston Villa in Europe.

According to Transfermarkt, Coutinho’s current market value stands at €2.5 million.
