Top shocking results in Europe over the weekend

A total of 94 clubs were in action across Europe’s top five leagues last weekend, there were some shocking results that left fans stunned.

FirstDailySports takes a look at the most shocking of them across the Premier League, Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, Ligue 1, and the Bundesliga.

Aston Villa 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa suffered a shock defeat at home to Nottingham Forest as their search for their first win of the season continues.

The Unai Emery-led side failed to build on their impressive away win over Club Brugge in the Champions League in midweek.

The defeat leaves Aston Villa in 19th after a winless start to the season, they have just one point from four games after losing three matches and drawing one.

Meanwhile, It was the first win of the season for Nottingham Forest following a disappointing start to the season, they now have five points from four games to occupy the 12th position.

Aston Villa will continue their search for a first Premier League win of the season when they take on Tottenham on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest will take on Frank Lampard’s Coventry City on the same day.

Crystal Palace 2-3 Ipswich Town

It was another disappointing performance from Crystal Palace against Ipswich Town to continue their poor form at home this year.

The Eagles have won just once and lost three in their opening four games of the season under new coach, Pierre Sage to sit 16th on the log.

On the other hand, the newly-promoted Ipswich Town, have enjoyed a dream start to life in the Premier League with two wins and two defeats to sit sixth on the Premier League log.

Ipswich Town will aim to improve their points when they face Everton on the same day.

Crystal Palace will take on Leeds United on Sunday at Elland Road.

Sassuolo 3-2 Juventus

Juventus suffered their first defeat of the season against Sassuolo thanks to a late goal by Vasilije Adžić, who is on loan from the Old Lady.

It was the most shocking result in the Serie A last weekend.

Prior to the match, Juventus had won two and drawn one to remain unbeaten but the run was ended in a spectacular fashion by Sassuolo.

The Old Lady now have seven points from four games to occupy the eighth position while Sassuolo have the same points to occupy the ninth position.

Up next for Juventus is a clash against Atalanta on Sunday while Sassuolo will face Monza two days earlier.

Atalanta 1-2 Cagliari

In another stunning result in the Italian Serie A, Cagliari earned a 2-1 away win over Atalanta to continue their impressive start to the 2026-27 season.

The Sardinians have enjoyed a dream start in the league with three wins from four under Fabio Pisacane to occupy the fourth position.

Atalanta have won two out of their first four matches of the season to sit in the 11th position with six points.

The Europa Conference League campaigners will hope to bounce back when they face Juventus on Sunday while Cagliari travel to Udinese.

On Monday, Newcastle United will face Leeds United in Premier League’s last match of week four.

In the Italian Serie A, Torino will slug it out with Roma.
