Munoz rescues Liverpool from defeat against Nottm Forest

Victor Munoz scored a late goal to rescue Liverpool from defeat in a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.

The new signing was handed his first start after joining the club in the summer and he produced an electrifying performance to rescue a point for Liverpool.

Dan Ndoye gave Nottingham Forest the lead with a clinical finish in the 24th minute.

Isak brought Liverpool back into the game with a close range finish from Cody Gakpo’s cross on the hour mark.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored from the penalty spot in the 70th after Alisson fouled Neco Williams in the box.

Munoz had the last laugh with a stunning equaliser in the 82nd minute to deny Nottingham Forest their first win of the season.

Both clubs have now failed to win in their first two games of the season.

Liverpool drew 2-2 with Newcastle United in their first match while Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 to Leeds United.

The Reds will be hoping to end their winless start to the season when they take on Ipswich Town next Friday while Nottingham Forest face Tottenham on Saturday.

Isak was delighted to open his goalscoring account for the 2026-27 season while praising Andoni Iraola.

He said: “That’s the job ultimately as a striker, I am very happy to score the first one. Every striker wants to score every game he plays.”

“It’s been good, there is always time to get used to a new style. We are really working hard to try to play the game Iraola wants us to play, when we start doing that better I have no doubt the results will come as well.”
