Happy to win a trophy for Celtic, says Iheanacho after league triumph
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is a happy man after helping Scottish Premier League (SPL) 2025/2026 league title in following a 3-1 win over closest rivals Hearts FC.
Celtic were crowned champions after a dramatic 3-1 win saw them beat Hearts FC on the final day of the Scottish Premiership campaign, thus securing the club’s fifth consecutive title.
Martin O’Neill’s side came back from behind in the 48 minute of the first half when A. Engel’s scored from the penalty spot after L. Shankland had given Hearts the lead in the 42nd minute.
Celtic rattled their opponents with two more goals in the second half with D. Maeda netting in the 86th and C. Osmond grabbing a goal in the in extra time.
While speaking to newsmen after the thrilling encounter, Iheanacho said that he is happy to win a silverware for a massive club like Celtic.

“I am happy to win a silverware for a massive club like Celtic. It is amazing.
When asked if his teammates felt the pressure knowing they had to win the game, Iheanacho said that the pressure was massive but the God of soccer was on their side.
“It was big tension and massive pressure. We know what we had to do today and we did it. Hearts are a very strong team but the God of soccer was on our side.
On how it feels to win a silverware again, he said; “It has been a long time since I last won a trophy and I am happy to win this for a massive club like Celtic FC.”
Celtic have now won a record 56 top-flight titles, surpassing their closest rivals Rangers; Hearts had led the league for 250 days but finished second, two points behind the champions.
