All Argentina football divisions to celebrate Messi retirement
The Argentina Football Federation has declared a one minute tribute across all football divisions in the country to celebrate the retirement of legendary footballer, Lionel Messi.
Starting this weekend, every match according to the Argentina FA every will pause in the 10th minute for a one-minute ovation in tribute to Messi and his goodbye to national team.
The directive issued by the football governing body in Argentina applies across all men’s and women’s professional divisions, amateur categories, futsal, and beach soccer.
Stadiums equipped with video boards in the country are also mandated to play a special tribute video celebrating his legendary 21-year career with the Albiceleste before every match kickoff.

The tribute comes after Messi, 39, officially announced his retirement from international football after 207 senior appearances and a record 125 goals scored for the national team of Argentina.
The gesture specifically highlights his legendary tenure wearing the iconic No. 10 jersey for the Argentina national team.
Messi who led Argentina to glory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, alongside a second-place finish at 2026 final tournament, also won back-to-back Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024.
