Yan Diamonde set to join Real Madrid

Yan Diamonde

Spanish La Liga club giants Real Madrid has reached an agreement with German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig over the signing of talented Ivory Coast winger, Yan Diamonde.

Both clubs thrashed out a deal worth over €100 million for the player on Sunday night and Diamonde is expected to fly to Madrid this week for medical tests and contract signing until June 2031.

Madrid had earlier already agreed personal terms with Diamonde on a contract until 2031 same as Paris Saint-Germain in June, but the Spanish club eventually got the player’s green light on a move to the Bernabeu.

The final financial package between both clubs is settled above €100m, likely landing between €115m and €120m with add-ons. This marks a record sale for RB Leipzig.

The player’s weekly salary package is reportedly structurally modeled after England midfielder Jude Bellingham’s incentive-heavy, year-on-year scaling contract.

PSG had been in the forefront for the Diamonde’s signature and had agreed long-standing personal terms, however, Real Madrid aggressively hijacked the deal under the nose of the French champions.

After Madrid’s initial €100m offer (€90m fixed + €10m add-ons) was rejected, they returned with a significantly improved package to secure the services of the player.

The 19-year-old returns to Spain after leaving CD Leganes for RB Leipzig when the club triggered his €20 million release clause last season.
