‘We did not play’ — Aduku rues Falconets opening loss to Spain
The coach of the junior female football team of Nigeria, Moses Aduku has expressed disappointment over the Falconets 2-0 loss to Spain in an opening Group F encounter at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Spanish team imposed its style of play in the game against the Falconets in the early stages and took their chances with two unreplied goals scored by Marisa Garcia and Alba Cerrato in each half of the match-up.
Aduku who spoke with FIFA.com after the game said that the Falconets did not come to the party against the reigning European champions.
However, coach Aduku is confident about his team’s ability to qualify for the knockout stages of the U-20 Women’s World Cup competition taking place in Poland
“We did not come to the party today; we did not play.

“But all the same, we have two more games to play; we will get it right. Of course, we are going to go through [to the knockout rounds].” Aduku said.
Before the game, the coach of the Spanish female team David Aznar charged his team to aim for victory against the Falconets of Nigeria ahead of their opening group game.
Aznar who spoke to about his team’s chances ahead of the game at Stadion Sosnowiec in Poland said that Spain are always ambitious and they want to win everything.
The coach also disclosed that his team will approach the FIFA U-20 Women’s tournament as they always do – with humility and by taking it one game at a time.
The Falconets will now take on China PR on Thursday, September 10, in a second Group F game as the team seeks to get its shaky campaign back on track at the competition.
