W’CUP QUALIFIER: Malawi U-20 women’s coach vows to stop Falconets
Maggie Chombo, the coach of Malawi’s U-20 Women’s national team has vowed to stop the Falconets of Nigeria in the second leg of the World Cup qualifying series.
Recall that the Nigerian U-20 team defeated Malawi 2-0 last Saturday at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne.
After a drab first half, the game came alive in the second half when the Falconets opened scoring through an own goal after piling pressure on the visitors.
The Nigerian female U-20 side doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Kindness Ifeanyi who buried the ball at the back of t the net after the Malawian goalkeeper spilled a dangerous cross.

Chombo affirmed that her team learnt a whole lot from the first leg encounter and they (technical team) will work on the grey areas noticed.
She further declared that there is still everything to play for in the second leg as his team will do all it can to cancel the two goal deficit and power on ahead to win the game.
“We have learnt, and we will go back and work on those areas,” Chombo said ahead of the second leg encounter.
“They have managed to score on their pitch, but we are going to do so as well in front of our supporters. Everything is possible, and we are going to do our best to win the game at home.” She added.
The Falconets are now neck deep in preparation for the second leg encounter scheduled to take place on May 9 at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, as they hope to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup which will be hosted by Poland.
