Wakama unveils final squad ahead 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup
The coach of D’Tigress, Rena Wakama has unveiled her final 12-player squad list ahead of the 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup taking place in Berlin, Germany.
Wakama selected a mix of experience and emerging talents for the forthcoming basketball tournament which will commence in the city of Berlin from September 4 to 13.
The list released by Wakama includes captain; Amy Okonkwo who will lead the team at the tournament alongside Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara who are the only surviving squad members from the 2018 Women’s World Cup.
Kalu and Amukamara who will both make history as the only Nigerian players to have featured at two FIBA Women’s World Cups arrived Berlin with the rest of the squad on Wednesday.

D’Tigress has been drawn in Group B alongside Hungary, France and South Korea and will begin their campaign against their Asian opponents (South Korea) on September 4.
Nigeria’s senior female basketball team will be making its third appearance at the tournament, following its previous outings in 2006 and 2018.

Promise Amukamara, Jordan Obi, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Pallas Kunaiyi, Rita Igbokwe, Victoria Macaulay, Ezinne Kalu, Shay Ijiwoye, Nicole Enabosi, Amy Okonkwo and Grace Efosa.
