TRANSFER STANDOFF: Alvarez to miss Atletico training for second day running

Julian Alvarez

Argentina striker, Julian Alvarez will miss Atletico Madrid training for a second day in a row in a bid to force a move to his dream club, Barcelona FC.

The player has told the club that he feels unwell and unable to train with his teammates as he pushes for a move to the club of his choice.

Alvarez prefers a move to Barcelona but Atlético Madrid have firmly rejected the club’s €90 million plus €10 million bonuses offer, demanding a fee in the region of €150 million and citing dignity over money.

Tensions escalated days ago when Atletico accused Barcelona of unethical tactics, with the club unwilling to negotiate with Hansi Flick’s side ahead of the looming transfer window deadline.

“The player is being victimized, but the only victim of the Julian case is us,” Atlético revealed in a statement.

“They have harmed us economically and socially. There is 0% chance of selling him to Barca. This situation is not about money, it’s about dignity.

“There’s a campaign with many lies and half-truths. The only one who pays for this is Atletico.” The statement added in part.

English Premier League club, Arsenal are reportedly waiting in the wings to swoop for the player’s signature if Alvarez considers playing in England once again.
