The first was also achieved by us in 2004. It is an extraordinary result. And I must tell you that it could have been better because nearly a thousand mail-in votes were annulled, votes certified by a notary, due to procedural issues that we will appeal, as we believe we are in the right.
“I am still here, and I am here to defend Real Madrid. We will continue working so that Real Madrid keeps winning titles, and we will fight until the end to achieve the sixteenth European Cup. You have demonstrated your commitment and loyalty to the club. Real Madrid has won.
“We have set an example to the world of democracy, transparency, and coexistence. We have shown that we are a big family, that we love Real Madrid, and that we are prepared for the future.”
Meanwhile, Enrique Riquelme congratulated Perez while revealing that his candidacy had opened an important new chapter in the club’s political life.
He said: “Congratulations to Florentino for his victory. And also to the Real Madrid members who were able to vote. It’s a great victory for this candidacy. For us, this isn’t the end, it’s the beginning. Real Madrid won’t go 20 years without another election.
“The Real Madrid members who will continue to vote for four years. Respect for the legacy and extending a hand to the debate that we haven’t had. The best thing is that the members are heard. It’s a pleasure to be with you.”
Perez, 79, has been Real Madrid president since 2009, and before that between 2000 and 2006.
During his presidency Madrid have won seven Champions Leagues — most recently in 2022 and 2024 — and seven LaLiga titles.
It was the first contested election the club had held in 20 years, with Perez elected unopposed in 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2025.
