Ouabhi elated after Morocco beat Scotland for first World Cup win
Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi has expressed satisfaction following his team’s 1-0 victory over the Scottish national team at the ongoing World Cup.
The Atlas Lions of Morocco took all three points against the Tartan Army via a goal scored by newly signed Bayern Munich winger Ismael Saibiri after just 71 seconds into the game.
Speaking in a post match press conference, Ouabhi said he was deeply satisfied with the performance of his team during the Group C game played at the Boston Stadium in Foxborough.
The coach added that he couldn’t be happier with the performance of his team which controlled the game in all departments and showed significant improvement in its attacking efficiency.

He said; “We controlled the whole game and, in terms of efficiency, I saw it as actually better than the first game,” said Ouahbi, whose side caught the eye in their opening 1-1 draw versus Brazil in New York/New Jersey last weekend.
“I see it as progress compared to the first game. So in the end, we are happy with the result; we wanted three points, and we got them. That was the main objective.
“I believe we controlled the game, but when you don’t score a second goal, obviously, we have to defend because Scotland had a very intense approach with very long balls. But I couldn’t be happier with the performance,” Ouabhi concluded.
Both teams will play their final FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C matches on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, which Morocco tackling Haiti while Scotland will battle almighty Brazil.
