Manchester United defender Michael Carrick has revealed that the players are fully behind to turn the club’s fortunes around following the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Red Devils continued their poor run of form with another disappointing performance to extend their winning run to eight matches.

Michael Carrick is on the brink following a run of two wins from 12 matches in all competitions this season.

Maguire is confident that the players are behind Carrick, trusting him to help the team recover from the dismal run.

He said: “We’re fully behind Michael. He came into the team last season and turned our season around and managed to finish in third position and managed to get Champions League football this season. As individuals, we’re not playing well enough.”

The English defender admitted that the team’s poor form is not good enough.

Maguire added: “The results haven’t been good enough. The performances haven’t been good enough.

“Individually we’ve got to look at ourselves and find something within ourselves to bring more to the team. That’s every player.”

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick has revealed that he is unsure of his future at the club.

He said: “I totally understand the situation. I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal, and you know, I love this place.

“I’ll always do what I feel is going to be the best for the football club, whatever decision is made on anything really. So that’s kind of it. You know, I’m not expecting anything either way.”

Despite a fifth defeat in eight games, Manchester United fans chanted Michael Carrick’s name at the end of the match.

Carrick described the fans’ gesture as mixed feelings while expressing his respect for the United faithful.

He concluded: “I have to say, really mixed emotions. I probably didn’t really expect that from the supporters, if I’m honest, but I’ve always felt the support and always felt that connection with them anyway.

“They’re probably sick of me saying all the time, the amount of times I’ve sat here and said it, but the respect that I have for them and for them to kind of show that back meant an awful lot. It’s still such a difficult situation and to go through a day like we have done, in a spell like we have done, is certainly difficult to take. There’s real mixed emotions in there for sure.”

The Red Devils will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in a bid to end the poor run.
