Bournemouth compound Man Utd’s woes with 3-0 win at Old Trafford

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Bournemouth added salt to injury for Michael Carrick with a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday to earn their second victory in the Premier League this season.

The Cherries ended their winless start to the season with a 2-0 win over Sunderland last week before following it up with a scintillating performance to blow Manchester United away.

It was a damaging defeat for Michael Carrick following the dismal 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The English manager dropped Bruno Fernandes after he questioned his tactics in the Como defeat.

However, The decision did little to improve the team with the players struggling to impress for the umpteenth time this season.

Rayan broke the deadlock in the 38th minute from a Justin Kluivert free-kick after Manchester United defenders left him unmarked.

Two minutes before halftime, Adrien Truffert took advantage of a slip by Leny Yoro in the box to set up Marcus Tavernier to convert into the empty net.

The Red Devils failed to find their bearing in the first half as the visitors went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The 15 minutes break did not change Manchester United’s fortunes as Bournemouth came out with intent and purpose and Evanilson quickly added the third goal, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The Brazilian forward scored the third goal in the 71st minute after Lemmens rushed out of his box, he beat the Belgian goalkeeper to the ball before poking home into an empty net.

The victory marked an impressive week for Bournemouth after they defeated AC Milan 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.

However, Manchester United have endured a disappointing week after damaging defeats to Como and Bournemouth.

The Michael Carrick-led side have failed to win their last eight matches in all competitions, and they have only won two out of 12 matches this season.

Consequently, Manchester United occupy the 16th position on the Premier League table with seven points from eight matches.

The victory moved Bournemouth up to 13th on the log with nine points from eight matches.

The Cherries will face Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday, while Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
