Mamelodi Sundowns
South African club side Mamelodi Sundowns will bag the princely sum of $6 million for winning the CAF Champions League title after surviving a tense second leg against AS FAR in Rabat, Morocco.
Sundowns secured a 1-0 win at home in the first leg of the two-legged encounter played in Pretoria, but were only able to force AS FAR to a 1-1 draw away to win the keenly contested final by 2-1 on aggregate.
The win on Sunday was Sundowns’ second Champions League title since 2016 and a cash prize of $6 million- an amount that reflects a historic increase implemented by CAF for the tournament.
The amount more than doubles the $2.5 million prize from 2021 with the runners-up AS FAR of Rabat also bagging the sum of $2 million for losing the final.

Aside the $6 million continental prize, winning the CAF Champions League also allows Sundowns to secure further revenue by qualifying for the lucrative FIFA Club World Cup and the CAF Super Cup.
