Mohamed Salah
It was an emotional day for Liverpool’s talisman Mohammed Salah as he played his last match for the club in a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Anfield on Sunday.
Salah ended his nine-year sojourn at Liverpool on Premier League’s final day after scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances for the club in all competitions.
The Egyptian forward had struggled for form this season after recording 12 goals and 10 assists in all competitions compared to 34 goals and 23 assists the previous season where he led Liverpool to the Premier League title.
He was in action for 74 minutes before he was substituted to a loud cheers from the supporters which left him in tears as the curtain ended on his illustrious career at Liverpool.
Despite making his last appearance for the club, Salah was able to set a final record at Anfield with his assist for Curtis Jones for Liverpool’s opener.
It was his 93rd assists for Liverpool to become the player with the most assists for the club in the Premier League, overtaking Steven Gerrard on 92.
Salah’s time at Anfield has been about setting records and breaking them to establish himself as a legend in the Red side of Merseyside.

The Egypt star man admitted that it was tough to leave Liverpool while wishing the club success in the future.
He said: “I cried a lot – I think more than I did in my whole life! But it’s very tough to leave a place like this. Also I cried a bit in the training ground. I’m not really an emotional guy, you guys don’t see that in the media that much.
“You always see me tough, aggressive but inside me I take it like a baby. It’s very tricky. We left our youth here, sharing everything from the beginning until the end. We wouldn’t even dream of what we had but we did it for this club. We put it back where it belonged.
“This is our message to the players in the dressing room. Look, the club now is fighting for everything. The fans will not accept less than that. They don’t care that much about the result as long as you sweat and you give your blood here. They will love you forever.
“So this is my message to you guys: it’s not about talent, it’s about everything. This is why he [Robertson] is loved more than anyone probably, because he just gave it all on the field and fans love him for that. It’s tricky to leave Liverpool, but this is life and we have to move on.”
Liverpool coach, Arne Slot, was also full of praise for Salah.
He said: “How will I remember Mo? 100% last season, I think he said – and that means even more than when I said it, because he has won so many things at this club – he said the most special thing he has won was last season’s Premier League title.
“Now I can safely say that was the most special thing I have won in my life, so I will remember that and how important he was in that season for the club. And as a result also for me with all the goals he scored.
“We, as a club, as a team, we weren’t on the same heights this season but I will 100% mainly remember him for last season and the fans should maybe remember him for all these seasons that he played for us but my main memory will definitely be last season.”
Salah was voted the player of the match in the encounter as he bid farewell to the colours he defended for nine years.
