Lukaku relishes successful Fenerbahce move from Napoli

Belgium International striker Romelu Lukaku has described his €6 million move from Italian Serie A club Napoli to Turkish Super Ligue club, Fenerbahce as a privilege and an honour.

The 33-year-old who struggled with injuries at Napoli last season said that he is 100% fit and ready to play his part on the coming season for his new club.

Lukaku also disclosed that it is an emotional moment for him returning to Turkey where he grew up as a young kid with his father who opened his eyes to professional football.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be joining your club ,” said Lukaku in a video on social media addressed to Fenerbahce’s fans.

“I am fit, 100%, ready to go. It is an emotional moment after many years to be going back to Turkey where I lived as a young kid, where I discovered the professional world as a toddler with my dad.”

Fenerbahce confirmed Lukaku’s signing after agreeing to a transfer fee of €6 million plus performance-related bonuses with Napoli.

The burly Belgian striker signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season with the Turkish clubside.
