Klopp’s agent denies Real Madrid coaching speculation
Marc Kosicke, the current agent representing German tactician Jurgen Klopp has shut down speculation that his client is being linked with a move to Spanish club Real Madrid.
Kosicke was forced to refute the speculation after presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme claimed during campaign rounds that he planned to make contact next week with Klopp to convince him to become the next coach of Real Madrid.
A statement from Riquelme’s office read: “We know that Jurgen Klopp has publicly stated that he has no intention of returning to the dugout in the short term, and that he has turned down numerous offers.
“That is precisely why we believe the challenge of Real Madrid is different. Because there are great clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid. There is only one institution capable of uniting tradition and future, values and ambition, passion and excellence.
“For that reason, if the members grant me their trust this Sunday, on Monday June 8, Raul Gonzalez Blanco [Real Madrid’s sporting director] will contact Jurgen Klopp to convey to him personally our sporting project and our wish for him to be the one to lead, from the bench, our new era at Real Madrid.” The presidential candidate claimed.
While reacting to the remarks made by Riquelme, during an interview with Sky Sports Germany, Kosicke firmly ruled out Klopp’s rerun to coaching anytime soon.
He said: “It’s annoying. He’s not planning to return to coaching a club and is happy at Red Bull.”
This is not the first time that Riquelme is making bogus promises ahead of forthcoming elections.
Manchester City are threatening to take legal action against Riquelme who promised Erling Haaland would be one the first players to join the club if he wins against the incumbent, Florentino Perez.
While speaking on a popular Spanish television program El Hormiguero last Wednesday, Riquelme, who is running against longtime president Pérez, made the boldest claim saying he will sign both Haaland and Rodri for Real Madrid if elected into office.
“I’ve signed a personal guarantee,” Riquelme said. “If I don’t fulfill my promise of bringing the players I’ve announced, I will pay 100% of the membership fees of Real Madrid’s members.”
“Haaland has a release clause, and he wants to come to Madrid.” He added.

However, in a statement issued thereafter, Manchester City dismissed the claims made by Riquelme saying “there is no chance” Haaland is joining Real Madrid.
The club denied the information and also disclosed that it is considering legal action against Riquelme for using their player’s image on purpose.
“The stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are FALSE.
“There is NO chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it.
“We are considering LEGAL ACTION for the use of our player image in this context,” the statement concluded.
