Ivory Coast out of World Cup as Haaland wins it for Norway
Erling Haaland scored a late winner to lead Norway to a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast to book their place in the 2026 World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday.
Antonio Nusa scored the opening goal in the 39th minute with a curling right-footed shot into the top corner.
Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard assisted the goal to become the third player on record to assist a goal in each of his first three World Cup appearances.
Amad Diallo came off the bench to score the equaliser with a stunning effort in the 74th minute.
Haaland had the last say with a routine finish in the 86th minute to send Norway to the round of 16, where they will take on Brazil on Sunday.
He has scored in 13 successive competitive matches for Norway.
