Ikorodu City brush aside Wikki Tourists to close in on continental ambition

Ikorodu City recorded a 3-1 win over Wikki Tourists in a 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Tuesday.

The victory moved the hosts closer to booking a continental spot at the end of the season after an impressive performance which propelled them to the third position.

Salami Farouk gave Ikorodu City the lead in the fourth minute with a tap in after Alfred Odinaka’s header found him in a good position to stun the visitors.

Abayomi Ayodeji added the second goal in the 18th minute to extend the lead, it was Ikorodu City’s 100th goal in the NPFL.

The league’s top scorer Joseph Arumala scored from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute for his 13th goal of the season.

The Oga Boys maintained their third position on the log with 58 points while Wikki Tourists are rooted in the 20th position with 40 points.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle was in attendance as he continued his tour of the Nigeria Premier Football League ahead of the Unity Cup later this month.
