Trossard pens emotional message to Arsenal fans after €20m Besiktas move

Belgium international striker Leandro Trossard has taken to social media to pen an emotional message to Arsenal manager, staff, teammates, and fans after sealing a €20 million move to Turkish Super Lig club, Besiktas.

The 31-year-old forward in a post shared on his official Instagram page stated that if the decision had been his alone, he would have stayed at Arsenal forever, but circumstances were beyond his control.

Trossard also revealed in his post that one of the reasons he chose Beşiktaş over some clubs in England is because he does not want to be playing against Arsenal in the near future.

He wrote; “I feel so sad about leaving because this club has been everything to me.

“This is probably the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. It wasn’t easy to say yes, but I also feel it’s the right time to begin a new chapter.

“One of the reasons I chose Beşiktaş over some clubs in England is because I didn’t want to be playing against Arsenal. This club means too much to me, and I didn’t want to find myself on the opposite side.

“No matter where my career takes me, a part of me will always belong to Arsenal. I’ll always be grateful to the fans, my teammates, the manager and everyone at the club.

“The thing I’m most proud of is that I was able to win the Premier League with Arsenal. That’s a memory I’ll carry with me forever, and nobody can ever take it away.”

Arsenal in a statement also confirmed that it has granted the player permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical.

“We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard,” Arsenal stated.

“With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club,” the statement added in part.

Reports say that Trossard departs Arsenal in a deal worth €20 million with Besiktas paying €18m + €2m to Arsenal. €1m based on appearances and another €1m based on the club’s results.

Trossard signed a 4-year contract on an annual €7 million deal after final Written Approval came from Arsenal with negotiations for the versatile player lasting for three months.
