Trabzonspor suffer Onuachu injury blow ahead of Hearts Conference League tie

Paul Onuachu

Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor will be without gangling Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu when they face Hearts of Midlothian FC in a UEFA Conference League match set to be played at the Papara Park.

Onuachu who has missed his team’s domestic victory against Besiktas suffered an injury in the 10th minute of Trabzonspor’s 4-2 win over KuPS after scoring an early opener in the game played last week.

Head coach of Trabzonspor, Thomas Reis has now disclosed that Onuachu will play no part when the Black Sea Storm face their Scottish counterparts in the UEFA Conference League match at home.

“The game against Hearts will be a bit early for Mustafa, early for his return tomorrow. For Onuachu, we could say maybe the Rizespor match,” Reis told reporters at a press conference.

The coach who disclosed that his team maintains a different squad list for domestic and European league competitions noted that the final squad selection for the game will depend on the outcome of Trabzonspor’s final training session.

“Our player lists for Europe and the league are different. We’ll do the last training session shortly, and we’ll decide on the starting 11,” he said.

Onuachu who scored 26 goals for his Turkish club across all competitions during the 2025-26 season could potentially return to football action on Monday, October 26, when Trabzonspor play Rizespor.
