Ronaldo gets 30 days suspension for leaving Portugal’s camp
Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days and fined €255 for leaving the Portuguese national team camp following his clash with the head coach Jorge Jesus.
It would be recalled that the team’s captain left the team after a disagreement with Jorge Jesus during the last International break.
Jesus asked Ronaldo to warm up in the 2-1 win over Norway, but later changed his mind by not bringing him in, a decision which angered the former Real Madrid star.
Following talks with the coaching crew, Ronaldo left the camp ahead of the clash against Denmark.
The Portuguese Football Federation announced in a statement on Monday that Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days and handed a fine of €255 for an intentional disciplinary offence under Article 160(1) of its disciplinary regulations.

The statement read: “Accordingly, and on the grounds set out above, the Disciplinary Council – Non-Professional Section – of the Portuguese Football Federation hereby decides, in these proceedings, to uphold the charges in their entirety and, consequently, find the accused, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, guilty of committing, on one occasion and intentionally, the disciplinary offence provided for and punishable under Article 160(1) of the RDFPF.
“As a result, he is handed a 30-day suspension and an additional fine of 2.5 units, amounting to €255 (two hundred and fifty-five euros).”
Since leaving the camp on September 30, Ronaldo has already served 19 days of his suspension, and he will return to the team in the next International break.
Ronaldo later apologised for his actions in a post on social media, asking the Portuguese FA to punish him for leaving the camp.
Portugal recorded victories against Denmark and Norway in Ronaldo’s absence.
