Nigeria begin African youth handball campaign with Tunisia defeat
Nigeria’s Under-18 Men’s Handball team began their campaign at the 22nd Africa Men’s Youth Handball Championship with a 32–23 defeat to Tunisia on Tuesday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian side led by Coach Abdulhakim Yakubu produced an impressive first-half performance, taking a narrow 15–14 lead into the break despite being behind at the early stage of the half.

However, Tunisia stepped up their performance in the second half, outscoring Nigeria to overturn the deficit and eventually punished Nigeria’s unnecessary turnovers and indecisiveness to secure a 32–23 victory at the end of the encounter.
The result leaves Nigeria with work to do in their remaining Group B matches against Algeria and Madagascar as they look to secure qualification for the knockout stage of the championship.
