Morocco thrash Canada to qualify for World Cup quarterfinals
Morocco earned a comfortable 3-0 win over co-hosts Canada at the Houston Stadium on Saturday to book a place in the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals.
The Atlas Lions continued their impressive run in the tournament with another scintillating performance to brush aside Canada.
The Canadians became the first co-host to crash out of the tournament.
Morocco endured a disappointing start in the encounter as Canada dominated proceedings but they were unable to get a clear cut chances as the first half ended 0-0.
Five minutes after the restart, Azzedine Ounahi broke the deadlock with a sublime finish from Achraf Hakimi’s cut-back free kick.
He added the second goal in the 82nd minute to make it 2-0 following a breakaway mowe.
Soufiane Rahimi put the icing on the cake with a close range finish in the 98th minute to give Morocco a resounding victory that ended Canada’s involvement in the tournament.

Morocco will now play the winner between France and Paraguay in the quarter-finals.
