Man City turn down Barcelona’s £38.5m bid for Rodri
Premier League side Manchester City have rejected Barcelona’s £38.5m opening bid for Rodri.
Rodri has been a subject of interest from La Liga powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid but the defending champions have had their first offer rejected on Friday.
According to reports, Man City are open to selling Rodri for a fee around £60m as he enters the final year of his contract.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Rodri’s agent, Barquero confirmed that he is ready to join Barcelona ahead of Real Madrid.
He wrote on X: “Out of respect for Madrid, as they have been class, Rodri informed them that his decision is to join Barça, quotes from his agent Barquero reported by @ellarguero. Personal terms, 100% agreed.”

Rodri played a key role to lead the Spanish team to glory at the 2026 World Cup in North America, he was named the Player of the tournament.
However, he endured an injury-ravaged 2025-26 season, where he played 21 matches.
Rodri joined Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, and has gone on to win 13 major trophies at the Etihad Stadium.
Barcelona have brought in the likes of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi to bolster their squad ahead of the 2026-27 La Liga season.
In a related development, Manchester City are in talks with Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi but the club are willing to meet the £86m asking price.
