‘I’ll be back in few weeks’ –Martinez says after successful surgery
Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez has taken to his social media page to inform his fans that he will return to the pitch of play in a few weeks after successfully completing surgery following a head injury.
During Saturday’s Premier League game against Everton, Martinez was involved in a freak collision with Jarred Branthwaite in the 75th minute, and he had to be stretchered off from the pitch to receive medical attention.
While issuing an update in his post-match conference after Chelsea secured a 2-0 in the game, Xabi Alonso disclosed that Martinez is conscious and undergoing precautionary tests.

He said: “As far as I know, he left the stadium conscious and right now he is in the hospital doing precautionary tests,’ said Alonso.
‘So let’s see, but that’s what I know so far. We need to wait. Hopefully it won’t be too bad, but we need to wait at the moment,” Alonso added.
Martinez has now successfully completed his surgery and has shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed late on Saturday night, with the caption; “Thank you all for the messages, the operation went well.
“The most important things are 3 points and clean sheet. I’ll be back in few weeks!”
The Argentina international shot-stopper is not expected to be in goal when Chelsea return to Premier League action against Tottenham on Saturday, with Mike Penders who took his place in the game against Everton set to be in goal for the foreseeable future.
