Bruno Guimaraes
English Premier League club Arsenal are on the verge of sealing a deal worth the sum of £75 million which could rise up to £80 million (plus add-ons) for Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from rival EPL club, Newcastle United.
Arsenal have reportedly made headway in their pursuit of the player’s services after the London club eventually reached an agreement with Newcastle United following long talks and personal terms already agreed with Bruno since July.
The player who was eligible to represent Spain before earning his senior cap for the Brazilian national team has now been given permission to travel to London for a medical at Arsenal.
Bruno who had earlier told Newcastle bosses this summer that he wanted to join Arsenal if a suitable offer arrived did everything his club asked, including attending training camp in La Manga, as great respect remains between player and club.
The impending arrival of the all-action player to the Emirates has got fans and close watchers buzzing with expectations regarding what the 28-year-old player will add the Arsenal’s midfield which already features midfield gladiators including; Declan Rice, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi.
In this article, we highlight four reasons why the signing of Bruno could change the dynamics of Arsenal’s midfield and overall play as the club seeks to defend their EPL title in the fast-approaching 2026/27 football season.
Duel monster, goal involvements
Bruno Guimarães is a known battler as he has won more duels (697) and more fouls (291) than any other Premier League player across the last three seasons.

The Brazilian is also the only midfielder in the Premier League with 200+ in: duels won, possessions won, fouls won and successful tackles. Bruno has also had 40 Premier League goal involvements in that time (21 goals and 19 assists).
Midfield energiser, charismatic leader
The charismatic player who will be a huge loss to Newcastle United is a fine midfielder who is technically exceptional in possession especially when he is under pressure, but he’s so much more, as he’s an energiser, a leader, a warrior, a chaser of lost balls and lost causes.
Dynamic player: Can play 6 or 8
Bruno’s arrival strengthens Arsenal further as they face a long campaign on two fronts, Premier League and Champions League, plus the two cups. Arsenal need the dynamism of the player.
He can play 6 or 8 and Arsenal defenders will appreciate his tenacious work rate in front of them. Their attackers especially Gyokeres will also feed off his line-breaking passes when the season gets into full swing.
A perfect partner for Declan Rice
Bruno who was first called up to the senior Brazil squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Bolivia and Peru on 9 and 13 October 2020, respectively is expected to forge a formidable midfield partnership with England international Declan Rice.
He is expected to dovetail well with Rice, and other Arsenal midfielders bringing even more power to the champions’ engine room and also allow Mikel Arteta to ease the huge workload his team is expected to face next season across four gruelling competitions.
