Why Bournemouth game could be tough for City —Guardiola

Pep Guardiola

Spanish coach Pep Guardiola has listed out many reasons why Manchester City may find it difficult to beat Bournemouth in tonight’s crunch Premier League game which will be played at the Vitality Stadium.

Guardiola who was speaking during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday said it will be difficult playing against Bournemouth which had a good result against Manchester City last season.

He said; “It’s always difficult (against Bournemouth), it always has been,” he said. “Last season it was one of our worst performances in the Premier League. And when we played in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last season, we played really good, so we’ll see which phase we can do.

The former Bayern Munich coach also lamented the fixture congestion that his team had to go through in the last two weeks saying Bournemouth had 10 days to prepare while his team just had three days following Man City’s 1-0 win against Chelsea on Sunday.

“We’ve had three days (since the FA Cup final). They’ve had 10 days to prepare for the game and they play to qualify for the Champions League, so I think they have an argument to be the best version of Bournemouth, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen.

“Bournemouth are 17 games unbeaten, so the run is unbelievable. This season again, what they have done with losing three players from the back four who had success last season, and still again they do it.

“The only chance we have (to win the league) is to win the game so we have to break that run, otherwise it will be over.” Guardiola noted.
