Durosinmi exits Pisa, joins Genk on four-year contract

Nigerian international striker Rafiu Durosinmi has left Italian club, Pisa and has pitched tents with Belgium Jupiler League side, Genk on a four-year contract.

Durosinmi who once plied his trade with Czech first division side Viktoria Plzen, fits the ambition of Genk to compete at the top again according to the club’s Head of Football Dimitri de Condé.

He added in a statement that Durosinmi is the type of striker that the club was looking for – a typical number 9 that can receive the ball and make an immediate impact.

“Rafiu is a striker with qualities that align well with the way KRC Genk wants to play,” Condé said.

“He is good in the box and also strong on the ball in combination play. typical A number 9 to whom you can pass the ball.

“We were also looking for a profile that can make an immediate impact and that fits within our ambition to compete at the top again. Rafiu meets those requirements.” He added.

Speaking moments after his unveiling, Durosinmi revealed that former Genk striker Paul Onuachu played a key role in convincing him to make the move to play for the Smurfs.

“I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals, and give everything in every match.,” Durosinmi told the club’s official website.

“I spoke with Paul about the club.He told me many great things about Genk, the supporters, and the way the club works with players. I am proud to be a Genkie.”

Durosinmi who played 12 matches, scored 1 goal, and provided 1 assist for Pisa Sporting Club during the 2025–26 Serie A season will be hoping to revive his promising career in Belgium.
