Cameroon breeze past Malawi to win WAFCON title
Cameroon earned a comfortable 3-0 win over Malawi to emerge champions of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Sunday.
The Indomitable Lionesses became the fourth champions of the tournament following a scintillating performance in the final against debutants Malawi.
Marie Ngah headed Cameroon in front with a header in the 20th minute.
Eight minutes later, Ndjoah Eto added the second goal before Marie Ngah completed her brace with a clinical finish to lead Cameroon to a deserved win.
Cameroon became the third nation to have won both the men’s Africa Cup of Nations and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, after Nigeria and South Africa.

The win ended Cameroon’s losing run in the final after they faltered in the final in 2004, 2014, and 2016.
Cameroon will earn a cash prize of $2m (£1.48m) for winning the tournament.

They became just the fourth side to win the trophy after Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
Equatorial Guinea won as hosts of the 2008 and 2012 editions. South Africa won the 2022 edition to become the third African nation to ever win the tournament.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria are the most successful nation in the history of the tournament since it became full-scale in 1998, winning 10 titles so far.
