Marc Cucurella

Real Madrid have confirmed the €60m signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Spanish defender returns home to team up with Real Madrid in a deal worth €55m plus €5m add-ons.

Cucurella signed a six year deal until June 30, 2032 to bring an end to his four-year sojourn at Stamford Bridge.

He joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion and was part of the team that lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup last year.

Real Madrid announced Cucurella’s signing in a statement on their website on Monday.

The statement read: “Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.”

Similarly, Chelsea also confirmed Cucurella’s move on their website on Monday while wishing him well at Real Madrid.

The Blues said in a statement: “Everyone at Chelsea FC would like to thank Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he played in our recent achievements.

“We wish him every success as he begins the next stage of his career.”

Cucurella started his career at Barcelona and he was linked with a move back to Nou Camp before Real Madrid swooped to deal a blow to their rival’s transfer ambitions once again.

It would be recalled that Bernardo Silva was close to joining Barcelona before Real Madrid snatched him from the jaws of the Catalans.

Real Madrid have enjoyed a busy summer with the appointment of Jose Mourinho and the signings of Brahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries.

Cucurella is currently at the World Cup with Spain, who play their first Group H match against Cape Verde on Monday.
