Madugu promises to fix leaky Falcons defence ahead Cameroon clash
The head coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Justin Madugu has revealed that he is going to fix his team’s leaky defence ahead of their quarterfinal game against Cameroon.
Maiduguri who made the remarks on Friday during his interaction with the media ahead of the game said that the way his team has conceded goals at the ongoing 2026 WAFCON has been disturbing.
According to the coach, the manner in which his team has been letting in goals especially in the group stage of the tournament calls for serious concern.
“We are a team very solid defensively, but of recent we have been conceding very, very unnecessary goals, which is very worrisome.
“The manner we are conceding these goals calls for serious concerns. We have to do a bit of work to address this.” He noted.
The defending champions have scored nine goals already at the ongoing 2026 WAFCON and have shipped in five goals, an unusual defensive record for a team that conceded just three goals in six matches on their way winning the last edition of the tournament staged in Morocco.
The Super Falcons will face the Lionesses of Cameroon on Sunday, 6:00p.m Nigeria time.
