GOAL WATCH: Iheanacho, Lookman, Akor seal critical wins for Celtic, Atletico, Sevilla
The European Football League season is about reaching its conclusion with league titles already decided in some cases and European qualification spots still not guaranteed for some teams.
As expected, Nigerian players are leading the line for their respective teams across Europe banging in goals with relative ease to keep hopes of a memorable 2025/2026 season alive.

Kelechi Iheanacho keeps Celtic’s title hope’s alive
Iheanacho scored a VAR-assisted penalty winner for his team, nine-minutes into stoppage time as Celtic beat Motherwell 3-2 on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premier League.
The player who has hit top form in recent weeks was presented with opportunity to win the game for Celtic which he took with aplomb after Sam Nicholson was penalised for handball when he jumped to head the ball away.
Iheanacho’s goal in the comeback win against Motherwell kept Celtic’s title hopes alive as they now need to beat Hearts on the final matchday of the season to win the 2025/2026 League crown.

Akor scores in back-to-back games for Sevilla
Former Montpellier forward Jerome Akor Adams was on the scoresheet again for his Spanish club Sevilla in a La Liga game played against Villareal at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Akor who has now scored no fewer than 10 goals and three assists in 30 league appearances for Sevilla FC this season, hit the back of the net with 18 left to play in the keenly contested game.
Villarreal raced to a two goal lead in the game with Gerard Moreno opening the scoring in the 13th minute, before a second goal scored seven minutes later by striker, Georges Mikautadze.
Sevilla rallied back to win the game with Oso reducing the deficit in the 36th minute, while Kike Salas equalized deep into first-half of stoppage time before Akor scored a last-gasp winner to give his team victory on Wednesday night.
The all-action Super Eagles striker has now found the back of the net in back-to-back games for Sevilla, having also scored the winning goal in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Espanyol.

Lookman can’t stop scoring for Atletico
The versatile Super Eagles forward Ademola was on the scoresheet for Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in a 2-1 win over Osasuna-thus securing Champion League qualification for his Spanish clubside.
Lookman scored his eight goal of the season (his 11th goal of the season across all competitions) when he converted an 18th minute penalty following a foul call by the referee.
Before being subbed out in the 82nd minute following a red card to teammate Marcos Llorente, the former Atalanta player was noted for his sharp performance in the grueling encounter played at the Jose Luis Guzman stadium.
